From Deputy City Manager Dan Maples:
Public Works / Streets / Utilities Fall Clean-Up Event:
The City of Edgewater provides two clean-up events each year. Both events consist of an alley way pick-up and a one-day large item drop-off. The alley pick-up will be on Monday, October 2nd, with items required to be placed for pick-up by 7:00am on the 2nd; and the drop-off date is Saturday, October 7th from 9am -1pm at 22nd & Benton St. Please visit the City web site for a list of materials that will be taken at the event and additional details. For questions please call 720-763-3012.
Bike Rack / Maintenance Station:
The Public Works Department has completed the install of bike racks and a bike maintenance station on the north side of the 25th Ave. parking lot at Sheridan Blvd. This was made in part by a grant from Jefferson County Public Health to promote access and encourage active transportation. Edgewater Redevelopment Authority also assisted with additional funds to finish the area. We still have some landscape materials to be added to the planters but have completed the bike support area. We hope to see lots of use of the area!
Parks and Recreation Citizen’s Park Bathroom Construction:
As you may have noticed, we have started construction on a small addition to the west side of the storage shed along 24th Ave. in Citizen’s Park. This addition will house a new restroom facility for the softball fields. The 2013 Parks and Recreation Master Plan called for an enclosure to be built in the park for the portable toilets. With the increase in programs and heavy use of the current portable toilets the decision was made to install a permanent restroom facility. Our current contractor is finishing up the utility work and should start pouring the floors next week. Then we will start to see the new structure built. For any information on this project please call 720-763-3010.
Last Market and Music Event:
Please join us next Thursday (9/7/17) between 5-8pm along 25th Ave. for the last Market and Music event of the season! The Market and Music event has been a great success this year and we are planning to go out with a bang. For the first time, there will be beer sales at the event as a fundraiser for the JUMPSTART program (Jefferson High). Community Garage Sale: The Edgewater Community Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, September 30th. The City of Edgewater will provide additional signage and marketing for your garage sale at no cost to you. Please visit www.playedgewater.com or call 720-763-3010 to register your address.
Civic Center Programming Open House:
The Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a few Civic Center programming open houses. The next Open House will be on September 13th at 6pm at Edgewater Municipal Building (2401 Sheridan Blvd.) upstairs in the museum area. The intention of these public meetings is to develop program plans for the new facility. These plans will assist with the equipment and staffing needs of the building.
