The Edgewater Police Department is partnering with other local departments and Lakeside Amusement Park to raise funds for new equipment to protect officers. With the increase in active shooter incidents in the United States, it is important that police officers have the right protection to save their life in the event that they are shot with a high caliber weapon. The money raised through this effort will go to nonprofit Shield 616 which is providing the armor packages at a discounted rate to officers.
Lakeside Amusement Park has generously agreed to donate 100% of advance ticket sales for June 14 to this effort. The tickets are being sold here at Edgewater Police (5901 W. 25th Ave.) for $10 per person. This includes full admission, parking and an all access wristband for all the rides which normally is $25-$30 a person. 100% of all tickets purchased go to Shield 616 to provide armor packages for officers. People can also go to the park that day and mention the fundraiser when purchasing their tickets and the funds will go to Shield 616.
Online donations can also be given here.
Edgewater Police, Lakeside Police, Mountain View Police and Morrison Police are all involved in this fundraising effort.
