From Xerxes Steirer:
Kate Armstrong, the Urban Forager, will be presenting at the Sustainability Series on May 15th. She has been exploring the Denver urban scene for edible plants and forgotten fruits for almost 10 years. Besides talking about the plants that used to be a major part of our diet, she will discuss the medicinal properties of common backyard plants, and how to use them. This will be an informative presentation that includes the opportunity to taste some early spring plants now available in our neighborhoods, and to see remedies Kate makes for her family.
About Kate: Raised on a small diverse farm in New York State in the 50’s, with parents and Grandparents who taught her about the properties of plants, and used them in everyday life. After the rapid take-over of Big Ag, she proceeded with a very different type of life. Recently she has been inspired to ‘return to her roots’ and teach about the plants that were a large part of an edible landscape.
