21st Annual Blues and BBQ for Better Housing Coming to Edgewater

From Blues and BBQ for Better Housing:

The 21st annual Blues and BBQ for Better Housing, benefitting Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver will be held this Saturday, July 21st at Citizen’s Park in Edgewater from 11 am to 8 pm. Proceeds will help build housing for nine families.

Habitat Denver has been helping families achieve the dream of affordable home ownership in the Denver area since 1979. Blues and BBQ, the longest running continual fundraiser for Habitat Denver, has raised over $200,000 to renovate and build homes since it was started in a small bar near Rockies Stadium in 1998.

The day-long music festival will feature nine local bands, 10 food trucks, a beer garden, area vendors and a kids zone play area with inflatable bounce houses and games.

Ranger Miller, founder of Blues and BBQ is the lead singer of the Duke Street Kings and pilot for United Airlines says,“helping hard-working families become homeowners is so much fun…It’s so cool when you got out and work with Habitat for the day, they don’t do the work for you, they teach you how to do it and you do it, you build a porch right next to the person who is going to move into that house. It’s so cool.”

Director of Communications and Marketing for Habitat Denver, Robyn Burns, expressed that the over 20 year partnership is something the organization is very thankful for, and looks forward to every year. “Blues and BBQ is one of our favorite events of the year at Habitat. Anyone who likes food and music, as well as having fun and supporting Habitat, please come out, it’s a great event.”

All-day entry passes are $10 for adults and free for children under 12. Tickets will be sold at the door and can be purchased in advance on the festival website: www.bluesnbbq.com
