Mobility Study

In November 2018, the City of Edgewater selected the consultant team of Blue Zones LLC and Community Builders to engage the community in developing a Mobility Plan. This Plan demonstrates the City’s commitment to promoting health and wellness by providing a safe and accommodating bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, while also addressing traffic calming, speed control and safe routes to school.

As a first step, Dan Burden, Samantha Thomas and Jillian Sutherland, AICP, will visit the City of Edgewater on January 17-19, 2019, in order to provide an overview of the plan development process, inventory existing conditions, facilitate two walking audits and two community workshops, as well as meet key stakeholders.

Edgewater Redevelopment Authority Board Position: There is currently an opening on the Edgewater Redevelopment Authority Board and the Board of Adjustment. The application can be found on the City web site (www.edgewaterco.com).

Parks and Recreation

Edgewater Fitness Classes: Starting January 7th, please check www.playedgewater.com for our adult fitness class schedule. We will be offering a wide variety of classes throughout the month of January with more concentration towards the early, before work crowd, and the after 5pm, after work crowd.

From January 7-January 31st the City of Edgewater Fitness Center is offering FREE fitness classes. Please stop into our fitness center or look at a schedule on www.playedgewater.com to see when classes are offered. Kick off 2019 right with a jump into fitness. Along with the free classes we ask that participants fill out a waiver and a small questionnaire about the class and what they would like to see in your new Edgewater Fitness Center. We hope to see you all here for the month of January for your Fitness Special.

Edgewater Elementary Playground Improvements: The City of Edgewater has partnered up with Edgewater Elementary to update their playground area. The Edgewater Elementary sixth grade class has been working on surveying students and community members to assist with the final design. Your input is needed! Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PXQ8SX5 and take the 5-minute survey to assist the City and school with a final design.

Civic Center Fitness Area: Please come visit us and enjoy the new recreation facilities and open gym times! Drop-in rates for youth are $2 or you can get a 15-punch pass for your child for $25.50. There is also an annual rate for youth members of $100 for a Jeffco Resident and $120 for non-Jeffco Resident. Adult and Senior drop-ins, 15 punch passes and annual passes also available.

Silver Sneakers / Senior Programming Update: The City of Edgewater is currently in communication with the managing body of Silver Sneakers and trying to determine a more concrete timeline as to when and if the City will be selected to host the Silver Sneakers program. New Year Resolution? Annual Fitness Center passes are the key! Come by the Fitness Center Desk on the second floor of the Civic Center and purchase one of our annual passes or punch cards and start your year off right! Call 720.763.3011 for more information.

Fitness Instructors Needed: We are currently looking for Fitness Instructors to teach/offer in our new facility (i.e. – yoga, spin, barre, etc.) For more information, please call the Recreation Desk at 720.763.3011. Applications can be found on the City’s website. Deadline for Applications: January 4th

Open Gym Hours: Starting Monday, January 7th, the Fitness Center Open Gym Hours will begin for Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball and Futsol (indoor soccer). For more information about open gym times, classes, etc. please call the Fitness Center Desk at 720.763.3011

Public Works

Holiday Tree Recycle: The City of Edgewater will be providing a tree drop off on Saturday, January 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at 22nd Ave. and Benton St. for Edgewater residents. Trees will be loaded into roll off containers and taken for mulching. If you are unable to transport your tree, and you are a City trash customer, and would like to dispose of it, please cut it in half and place it with your Republic trash receptacle for pick-up.
