Jefferson Grad James Lumberg Attempts the Last of the Seven Summits

James Lumberg on the summit of Mount Everest

Jefferson graduate James Lumberg is continuing his pursuit of the highest summits on Earth. In the next month or so he hopes to complete the last of the Seven Summits, Vison Massif in Antartica. In April 2017, James visited Lumberg Elementary in Edgewater and shared about his experience summiting Mount Everest. James Lumberg is the great-great grandson of Harry Lumberg, who Lumberg Elementary School was named after.

Here is James’ first message from his journey to Vison Massif:

Greetings from Punta Arenas, Chile! Over the next weeks I hope to ski to the South Pole and climb Vinson Massif, the tallest mountain in Antartica. If I am successful with these projects it will mark the completion of my Seven Summits challenge and set the stage for completion of the Explorer’s Grand Slam this spring at the North Pole. www.explorersgrandslam.com
