Today we are spotlighting one of our local businesses, SoldierFit, that was one of the sponsors for the Roger’s Run 5k this year. SoldierFit is just up Sheridan at 4272 Lowell Blvd.
How did you get involved in this business?
We are first and foremost a gym with a cause, looking to bring a military inspired culture to the fitness landscape of Denver. As laid out in our vision statement, our goal is to revitalize the American dream by creating a culture of civic engagement, humility, and unyielding optimism for the future. Our military heritage is important to all of us, especially our owner, Maria, who is herself a Gold Star Spouse (military widow). Her background in social work, as well as military crisis case management has given her the unique perspective to help others and work towards the ultimate goal of using the profits generated from our gym to help veterans by establishing a PTSD clinic by 2021. To that end, while we focus on the individual, we never lose sight of our impact on the community as a whole and strive to give back on a monthly basis through our charitable partners and neighborhood involvement.
What drew you to move to the area?
As a business we are looking to be a home for those who want a sense of unity, group cohesion, and camaraderie from their workouts. Our owner, Maria, and her late husband had been enamored with Denver and its culture and planned to move here after his enlistment. This gym is a way of continuing that dream and attempting to further it by establishing a fitness facility in a Denver, a city with a thriving fitness community and a welcoming group of like minded people. In essence, we want to provide a strong sense of purpose, give our troops more than just a workout, and have them leave our gym feeling better than when they walked in. Since our founding, we set our sights on being a beacon in our local community for civilians and veterans alike. Having our roots in the east coast has given us the structure to grow and fit seamlessly into the Colorado landscape, where we look forward to providing elite training and fitness inspiration for the people of Denver.
What services do you offer?
Our primary focus is high intensity interval training workouts and personal training. Beyond that we offer small group fitness and specialized training programs that focus on specific fitness goals such as muscular strength or cardiovascular endurance. We challenge our trainers to create a totally unique workout every hour of every day, thereby avoiding boredom and ensuring that every “troop” has the opportunity to safely and effectively push themselves without fear injury, or danger of plateauing. In the coming months, we look forward to introducing other services such as yoga and kid cadets to our lineup to keep up with the demands of our “troops” busy schedules.
What makes your business unique?
Our individuality comes from our belief that fitness is what we do, not why we do it. Our focus with each and every troop is to impact more than their physical appearance, but rather to be of benefit to the entire individual, their family, and the community as a whole. Our goal is to ensure that every one of our “troops” feels at home, gets the best possible workout, and has the ability to connect with each other and with their trainers. We accomplish this by instilling military values such as integrity, endurance, enthusiasm, and discipline in to each and every workout. We pride ourselves on the fact that every one of our trainers carries a national certification, as well as having passed a rigorous in-house accreditation so that we can deliver the safest and most effective workout for each of our members. We live by the mantra of military inspired, not military required, thereby making our workouts challenging, but accessible to members of all fitness levels and abilities. We have cultivated an amazing group of trainers and “troops” and we want nothing more than to share this experience with every resident of the Highlands, help them reach their fitness goals, and get the most out of every single workout.
