Redevelopment of City-Owned Properties Move Forward: City Council Agenda for May 7, 2019

Property at 2401 Sheridan Boulevard to be redeveloped by West Shore Hospitality

This Tuesday, May 7, the Edgewater City Council will meet for a regularly scheduled Business Meeting and Work Session starting at 7 pm. The agenda includes two important decisions related to the redevelopment of City-owned property.

First, City Council will respond to a first reading of an ordinance approving the sale of the former Edgewater Municipal Building at 2401 Sheridan Boulevard to West Shore Hospitality. The Purchase, Sale and Development Agreement mentions that “the use of the Project shall be a food and beverage business with an outdoor patio, which business shall contain not less than six thousand (6,000) feet in total.”

Second, the Edgewater City Council will respond to the second reading of an ordinance related to off-street parking zoning definitions. This ordinance is in response to the letter sent to City Council by City Street Investors who are redeveloping the properties at 25th and Gray that once held the Edgewater Fire Department and Edgewater Library. The zoning definition changes would allow City Street Investors to redevelop the property to meet the vision of the community for the space that would include a second Pizza Forte location and an ice cream production facility.

  1. Wait. The space at 25 and Gray will have a second Pizzeria Forte location? Is the existing one just planning to move or… why would there be a second on the same street?
