Edgewater Business Spotlight: Shri Wellness

Shri Wellness Owner, Madison Waggoner

Today we are spotlighting Shri Wellness which is located on the southeast corner of Fenton and 25th in the building that houses Happy Leaf, Titanium Fitness and Fitness Together at 5700 West 25th Avenue.

Here’s our interview with the owner, Madison Waggoner:

How did you get involved in this business?

Food, especially healthy food has been important in my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up as an athlete and having struggled with various health-related issues I came to know the healing power of food.

When I was introduced to Ayurveda in 2013 during my yoga teacher training, I thought it was a system that prescribed different diets for specific mind-body types. Come to find out, it is one of the world’s first holistic healing systems. It is much more than what kind of food to eat for your body.

Ayurveda emphasizes that HOW you eat is equally important as what you eat! Mindful eating seems revolutionary, right? Well, Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old science, so not exactly. This ancient healing system is extraordinary to maintain high levels of health and well-being, but it is also incredibly powerful to heal from disease.

Upon learning about Ayurveda, many of my life paths converged. My sincere love for food, healthy living, movement, nature and natural remedies came together. All of these facets that I had deemed important to living a vibrant and healthy life were part of this life science called Ayurveda. It all made so much sense to me!

I have poured my heart and soul into studying and teaching Ayurveda, yoga and meditation. I am constantly fascinated and in awe by how much wisdom and potential for personal growth these sciences house. They have changed my life tremendously and it is humbling to be able to share with others.

In 2015, I created Shri Wellness as a vehicle to support clients to live a purposeful and radiant life. I share my passion for Ayurveda, yoga and meditation with others through one-on-one sessions, retreats and corporate wellness presentations. In December 2018, I launched a tool, the Veda Jar and Ayurvedic cookbook, to make healthy eating possible on-the-go.

What drew you to move to Edgewater?

The culture and people in Edgewater are a gift. There are many small businesses in the area, so it is great to connect with like-minded people.

I also like to simplify life as much as possible. A short commute is convenient and key in simplicity. I live on the east side of Sloan’s Lake which makes Edgewater a wonderful place to house my business.

What services do you offer?

Shri Wellness offers an integrative approach to mind-body health leaving clients feeling more balance and joy in their lives. I do that with one-on-one Ayurvedic wellness consultations and private yoga.

The work that I do is sustainable meaning that it isn’t another diet or lifestyle to try for a while. It is about cultivating skills to uncover what really works for YOU in the long-term, and is adaptable to different times of year and different seasons of your life. Just as your body is unlike anyone else’s body – your journey is unlike anyone else’s journey. Ayurveda is personalized medicine for mind and body.

What makes your business unique?

My clients feel their best when they find purpose and meaning in life, care for their body with proper diet and lifestyle, and are mentally balanced and strong.

The reality is that you can’t successfully treat physical and mental health separately. This is what sets Shri Wellness apart – an integrative and personalized approach to health and well-being.
