Navigating Substance Experimentation in Teens

From Jefferson County Communities That Care:

A free, two-hour workshop offering information and support for parents or caregivers whose teen is experimenting with alcohol, marijuana, vaping and other substances.

  • Interactive, judgement-free and practical
  • Led by counselors from Denver Family Therapy Center
  • Held the first Wednesday of each month from 6-8 pm at Jefferson County Public Health (645 Parfet Street, Lakewood)​

Workshops are for parents, guardians or primary caregivers of adolescents:

  • Youth should not attend the workshops with their parent or guardian
  • Free dinner will be provided to attendees

Topics covered:

  • Myths & realities about substance use among teens
  • Detailed information about cannabis, alcohol and vaping
  • Risk factors and statistics
  • Encouraging your teen to seek help
  • Communication and staying connected
  • When and how to seek treatment
