Keep Em Leashed: Loose Dogs at Citizen’s Park

From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:

Neighbors,

The Edgewater Police Department has been receiving complaints from neighbors that dogs are being allowed to run loose at Citizen’s Park and other areas around the city. These reports are alarming as the unleashed dogs have caused both neighbors and other dogs to be frightened of being harmed.

Edgewater Police Officers with assistance from our Parks Department have begun an educational effort for all dog owners; “KEEP EM LEASHED” that reminds all persons that DOGS IN PUBLIC MUST BE LEASHED.

We obviously would prefer not to move to an enforcement posture in regards to unleashed dogs, but neighbors are reminded that JEFFCOM DISPATCH is available at 303-980-7300 should you observe an unleashed dog in public. Thank you!

  1. I’m not condoning un-leashed dogs. I have a dog who doesn’t like to be approached while he is leashed. So, please keep your dog leashed at all times. That being said, can we PLEASE get a designated off-leash area for our neighborhood?? PLEASE! we can create this safe space at Citizens or Walker Branch. There is plenty of room.
