During this COVID-19 crisis, families are struggling to get food, seniors are sheltering in place and people are losing their jobs. On top of this, local restaurants are struggling to pay their employees and keep cashflow going. But neighbors want to volunteer and help each other in wise and safe ways, while still staying at home to slow the spread of the virus.
After talking to various partners and seeking opinions on how best to help provide food to those who need it, we’ve decided to beta-test a free dinner meal delivery service in the 80214 zip code starting Monday, March 23. We will be starting small so can figure out how to deliver meals in a safe way. This project, Mutual Meals, is managed for our umbrella nonprofit organization, Edgewater Collective.
We are following the best practices for food delivery based on information from the CDC and other meal delivery services.
For the week of March 23:
- On Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24 we will be delivering free meals to seniors in 80214
- On Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 we will be delivering free meals to families in 80214
This is a beta test so email joel@edgewatercollective.org if the forms don’t work right or if you have any ideas/suggestions.
