From the City of Edgewater:
During Edgewater City Council’s special meeting on Monday, April 13, 2020, Council approved $200,000 in funding for the Edgewater COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grant Program to support Edgewater’s independently-owned small businesses, as they are a vital part of what makes Edgewater such a vibrant and thriving community. The purpose of this grant is to help businesses bridge the gap in funding, while waiting for Federal and State assistance, by providing immediate funds to pay for essential business-related expenses such as rent or mortgage payments, utilities, payroll, and other business expenses.
Grant Amount
Edgewater small businesses may be eligible for a grant to cover 100% of a business’s monthly rent or mortgage payment or $2,500, whichever is less.
In the event that a business has no rent or mortgage payment, the maximum amount of any grant under this program shall be based upon an amount determined by the City of Edgewater to be a reasonable estimate of the amount of rent that the business would pay for its space under prevailing market rents as of March 1, 2020.
The deadline to submit a grant application is Friday, May 8, 2020. For eligible businesses, grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
