Summus Rehabilitation Joins the Farm to Treatment Table Team

From Farm to Treatment Table:

Becky Kellogg, physical therapist, Pilates instructor, and owner of Farm to Treatment Table, is grateful to have remained open over the course of the pandemic. Being both a small business owner, as well as a healthcare provider, during the last 11 months has proven to be a bit of a rollercoaster.  Thankfully, being a small clinic and seeing only one client at a time has been a great, and safe, business model.

It’s no surprise the pandemic has made life more challenging in the past year and the restrictions in place to minimize the impact of COVID-19 have significantly impacted the ability of people to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical manifestations from the pandemic. This increase in stress, and reduced ability to participate in activities that previously reduced stress for people, creates an imbalance in our nervous system that can contribute to pain. Not to mention, less overall movement and increased sitting time often results in tight muscles, stiff joints, and decreased strength…. which can also contribute to pain. All of this together can be a slippery slope.

Fortunately, Becky has a been a great resource for her patients, helping them manage some of the physical symptoms that are side effects of “pandemic life”. She has seen several complaints of increased pain (even of old injuries reoccurring), increased tension, poor sleep, and poor digestion, all of which can be helped with physical therapy. Becky is able to help people decrease pain, increase mobility, and calm their nervous systems with a combination of hands-on physical therapy techniques, trigger point dry needling, visceral (organ) mobilization,  and exercises and movement via Pilates. Farm to Treatment Table offers both in person and telehealth physical therapy and Pilates sessions, depending on your needs and comfort level.

Becky hopes to help more people in the community, as Farm to Treatment Table is very thankful to be a part of the Edgewater community. Community has never meant so much as it does now, and the City of Edgewater and its people have proven to be wonderful and supportive during this time. She is here to help you meet your own individual wellness goals, no matter how big or small they may seem.

Farm to Treatment Table is also excited to welcome Monica Vandervoort PT, DPT, and owner of Summus Rehabilitation. Dr. Vandervoort is a physical therapist and Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (WCS) and specializes in the treatment of men and women’s pelvic health. This includes urinary and stool leakage/urgency/frequency, constipation, and abdominal and pelvic pain.  In addition to physical therapy, she is also a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula and certified Breastfeeding Counselor. Dr. Vandervoort takes pride in educating her patients about their body, the underlying cause of their symptoms, and treatment strategies for addressing their symptoms for long term sustainability.

Farm to Treatment Table is very excited to have Dr. Vandervoort in the clinic as her specialty is much needed; these problems are more common than people think (or talk about), and often times can contribute to common complaints like low back pain, or chronic hip tightness. As a grand opening special, Dr. Vandervoort and Summus Rehabilitation would like to offer a special virtual screening to get to know you, discuss your complaints, and decide if pelvic PT could work for you…. chances are, it can! Check it out:

Do you leak urine, strain during bowel movements, or know where every bathroom is when you leave the house?  Do you feel a sudden urge to use the bathroom right when you get home?  Do you experience pelvic or abdominal pain with intimacy and/or with sex?  Do have pain with exercise or feel abdominal/core weakness?  These things are common, but are NOT normal!

If you experience any of these symptoms or more and have questions and want to discuss your situation further, Dr. Vandervoort will be hosting 45-minute virtual screening sessions to discuss if pelvic PT is right for you.  (see below for contact info)

Becky and Monica have all of your physical therapy needs covered!

They request that you do not hesitate to reach out to either of them with any questions pertaining to physical therapy, an injury, pain, or general wellness inquiries!
