From Edgewater Mayor Laura Keegan:
Despite last month’s record-breaking blizzard, the City of Edgewater – alongside most of the State of Colorado – continues to experience moderate drought conditions that will likely last into the summer. These drought conditions are part of a new reality in Colorado as our changing climate will bring hotter, drier weather and longer more frequent droughts.
Fortunately, water use efficiency measures, implemented at scale, are a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable source of water supply. By being mindful of our water use we also have an opportunity to save enormous amounts of energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Now is the time for all of us to take action to conserve our vital water resources. That’s why I’m asking my fellow Edgewater residents to join me throughout the month of April in taking the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation and make your pledge to reduce water consumption at mywaterpledge.com.
If our city has the highest percentage of participating residents taking the pledge, we will all be entered to win great prizes-like $3,000 for Home Utility Payments, Home Improvement Store Gift Cards, Toro Smart Irrigation Controllers, and more.
Here’s how it works:
- Take the My Water Pledge
- Choose to enter the prize drawing to be eligible to win hundreds of prizes!
- Start implementing the simple water conservation practices and tools included in your pledge like taking shorter showers and washing full loads of laundry.
- Encourage your neighbors to join you in taking the pledge
We’re all in this together and I challenge our community to take action to conserve our most important natural resource, our water.
Warmly,
Mayor Laura Keegan
