24th Annual Blues & BBQ for Better Housing: July 17 in Edgewater

From Blues & BBQ for Better Housing:

The 24th Annual Blues & BBQ for Better Housing music festival will be held on Saturday, July 17th at Citizens Park (24th and Benton) in Edgewater. Blues & BBQ has raised over $355,000 to renovate and build homes since it was started in a small bar near Coors Field in 1998. Proceeds for this year’s festival will go towards various affordable housing projects in the Denver Metro area with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and Rebuilding Together Metro Denver.

The day-long festival features nine local bands including Nick of Time, Teledonna, Mojo Mama, Eef & The Blues Express, The Cass Clayton Band, Zepp 11, Cast Iron Queens, Wild Love Tigress and the Duke Street Kings. There will be food trucks, a beer garden sponsored by Joyride Brewing Company, retail vendors, face painting and a kids zone play area with inflatable bounce houses and games.

Owens-Corning and Cenco Building Services have teamed up with Blues & BBQ to replace roofs for families in need. Matthew Dirr, General Manager of Cenco Building Services says, “Our involvement with Blues & BBQ has helped us to give back to the community and put new roofs over the heads of families and veterans who have served our country. We’re so thankful for our partnership with Blues & BBQ and look forward to a great festival this July.”

“Helping hard-working families is awesome,” says founder of Blues & BBQ Ranger Miller. “It’s so cool when you go out and work with Habitat for Humanity for the day. They don’t do the work for you, they teach you how to do it and you do it, you fix-up a house working right next to the person who lives there. It really makes you feel like you’ve made a difference.”

All-day entry passes are $10 for adults and free for children under 12. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be purchased in advance on the festival website: www.bluesnbbq.com
