The Edgewater City Council will meet for a Business Meeting and Work Session on Tuesday, April 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will be held virtually and in-person.
During the Work Session, City Council will continue their discussion on possible legislation to prevent gun violence. At the April 5 City Council meeting, City Council heard a presentation from Eileen McCarron and Tom Mauser from Colorado Ceasefire. This second discussion will focus on possible legislation that is allowed by Colorado SB21-256. According to the bill summary, “The act declares that the regulation of firearms is a matter of state and local concern. A local government is permitted to enact an ordinance, regulation, or other law governing or prohibiting the sale, purchase, transfer, or possession of a firearm, ammunition, or firearm component or accessory. The ordinance, regulation, or law may not be less restrictive than state law.”
During the Business Meeting, City Council will hear a presentation from Comcast and Century Link as well as honor outgoing Sustainability Board Member Shawn Doolen.
