Historically, there has been a physical and relational divide between apartment residents north of 26th Avenue and homeowners south of 26th Avenue even though all are residents of Edgewater. Often apartment residents are not aware of who to contact at the City of Edgewater with concerns. They also are not as connected to events and opportunities in town. A large number of Edgewater residents live in apartments north of 26th Avenue, south of 20th Avenue and west of Pierce Street in Edgewater. Renters deserve to be connected to the Edgewater community and have a voice in what happens in town.
We are launching the Edgewater Renter Advocacy Council to listen for the needs and opportunities unique to renters in Edgewater. As needs and opportunities arise, we will work together to advocate for change that will benefit renters in Edgewater. We also have grant funds that can be used for a specific project that will impact Edgewater renters.
The Renter Advocacy Council will meet monthly and participants will receive a $25 gift card for their participation in each meeting. Spanish interpretation will also be provided.
