New Edgewater History Book Released

After over four years of hard work by community volunteers, the latest recording of Edgewater’s history and stories has been released. Edgewater, Colorado: 120 Years of Growth, Resilience, and Community Spirit has been published by the City of Edgewater.

The City of Edgewater’s History, Arts, Recreation, and Parks (HARP) Advisory Board brought together writers from the Edgewater community to record the stories of community members. Stories that were passed down from generation to generation, like the supposed burial of Roger the elephant in Edgewater, were corrected based on more recent research. The most recent Edgewater history book was completed for Edgewater’s Centennial Celebration in 2001, so the new history book tells the stories that happened over the last two decades including the pandemic, recent developments, work done in education, and much more.

Local Edgewater residents Hannah Beltrone, Kali Janda, Laura Keegan, Joel Newton, Laney Ruddell, Bobbie Schuppert, and Dominique Skeehan wrote sections of the book. Edgewater resident Katie Matthews edited the book.
