From Edgewater Police:

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of retired Edgewater Police Officer, Gretchen Gordanier. Gretchen began her career as a part-time “dog catcher” in 1980 before becoming full-time in 1981. For 27 years, Gretchen worked as an Animal Control Officer, a Community Service Officer, and later a sworn Police Officer. The Gordanier name is synonymous with policing up and down the Front Range as Gretchen’s father, Bob Sr., served as the Edgewater Police Chief for many years and her brother, Bob Jr., is currently the Lakeside Police Chief. Gretchen’s son, Troy, is a 30-year member of the Westminster Police Department currently serving as a detective.

In the article below written upon her retirement in 2008, Gretchen said “Though they may live and work in other towns, the Gordaniers think of Edgewater as home, the town where they grew up, went to school and have long-term friends.”
