Randy McNitt Named Edgewater Chief of Police

Edgewater Chief of Police Randy McNitt

 

From the City of Edgewater:

Edgewater has hired Randy McNitt as the next Chief of Police for the Edgewater Police Department. Randy has been a Police Commander with the Lakewood Police Department for the last eight years, working with the department for over twenty-seven years. He holds a Law Degree in addition to a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and is an active instructor in Ethics, Anti-Biased Policing and Use of Force. He is also a graduate of Session 280 of the FBI National Academy.

McNitt graduated from Michigan State University before starting his career in law enforcement as a Reserve Police Officer in Holland, Michigan. He was hired by the Lakewood Police Department in 1997. In addition to Patrol duties in Lakewood, Randy has worked in a neighborhood policing unit, the Special Enforcement Team, Internal Affairs, and Investigations. Mr. McNitt is currently serving as a Commander in the Investigation Division working with four investigative teams, the Crime Lab, and Victim Advocates.

On top of all his experience and education, McNitt brings the professional and personal skills needed to lead our exceptional Police Department into the future.
