Edgewater City Weekly: October 6, 2017

Updated design of the Edgewater Civic Center

From Deputy City Manager Dan Maples:

Public Works / Streets / Utilities

Street / Alley Lights: Street / Alley lights in Edgewater are maintained by Xcel energy. If you find a outage please contact 720-763-3012 or visit https://www.xcelenergy.com/outages_and_emergencies/outdoor_lighting_outages to report.

Sign Inventory: Our Public Works Crews have been evaluating street signs over the past week. We typically do this to ensure that signs are visible for traffic and pedestrians. In 2018 we are looking at some GIS software to help track street assets and provide a better maintenance schedule.

Street Sweeping: The week of October 16th will be our last regular sweeping dates for 2017. Although we still sweep, we usually have some freedom with the colder months due to the weather that may or may not happen. We are looking a few changes for 2018 including posting the sweeping schedule on permanent signs throughout the neighborhoods.

Snow Plow Operations: We had two of our staff attend a snow management conference last week in Loveland. Our goal is to better develop plans and procedures for snow removal and management. We are looking at a few new systems such as d-icing.

Fall Clean-Up Event: Just a reminder that the Fall Clean-Up Drop-Off will be this Saturday from 9am -1pm at 22nd & Benton St. Please visit the City web site for a list of materials that will be taken at the event and additional details. For questions please call 720-763-3012.

Xcel Lamar St. Main Gas Replacement: We have been monitoring the Xcel Gas replacement project on Lamar St. for a few months now. Talking with the project foreman they believe they will be completed with this project towards the end of the month. We will continue to work with Xcel to get the project completed as soon as possible.

Parks and Recreation

Irrigation Blow Outs: We have had a crew blowing out and winterizing irrigation systems in our parks this week. There are many different opinions on when this can be done but we find it easier to do before cold weather comes through.

Civic Center

Construction Contract: City Council approved the Guarantee Maximum Price (GMP) contract at last night’s City Council meeting.

Construction Schedule: Below are a few dates for the construction. They are a little fluid, as most dates are with construction. We will update as we go.

Underground Utilities Work Starts October 2
Demolition / Ground Work Starts October 20
