20th and Depew Moving Forward: Update on Edgewater Public Market

The long saga of what will become of the former King Soopers building at 20th and Depew in Edgewater might soon be over. LCP Development has been in discussions with the City of Edgewater to purchase the land on the northeast corner of 20th and Depew and the end is in sight. We reached out to Tim Schlichting at LCP Development for an update on the proposed Edgewater Public Market.

Are you at liberty to say which businesses have signed on to the development? Which ones?

We are in negotiations with over 20 tenants but it’s premature to make specific announcements at this time.

What are your next steps moving forward on the project?

We anticipate closing on the purchase of the property in early September with interior demolition activities commencing soon thereafter.  Leasing efforts are ongoing to attract a curated mix of tenants that will complement our vision for the project and be an asset for the community.

What is your goal for completion of the project?

Of the four buildings (three renovations and one new ground-up), most will open in Summer 2019, but a few businesses in one of the buildings may open as early as Spring 2019.
