Slow Down: School is Back in Session Thursday

This Thursday, August 16 brings the start of school for our Edgewater area schools. The streets around town will get busier as kids walk to school and parents drive in from area neighborhoods.

Roads around Edgewater Elementary (24th and Depew), Lumberg Elementary (22nd and Pierce) and Jefferson Junior/Senior High School (24th and Pierce) will busy in the mornings from 7:30-8:15 am and then in the afternoons from 2-3:30 pm.

Here’s a message from Edgewater Police Department’s School Resource Officer Ed McCallin:

Neighbors,

Just a friendly reminder that the schools in our neighborhood will begin classes this Thursday, August 16th. With that being said please allow for extra time when driving in the area of the Jefferson Jr/Sr High School and the Lumberg and Edgewater Elementary Schools. There is predictable traffic congestion on the main streets and the side streets around the schools in the morning during drop off time and in the afternoon during pick up times.

When driving around the schools please be aware of the school zone speed limits and school parking restrictions. When dropping students off at the schools please follow all traffic regulation and do not stop in the middle of the street (lane of traffic) to off load or pick up students.

If you have any question or concerns please feel free to contact the Edgewater Police Department or me directly.
