Edgewater Parks & Rec Cooking Classes

From Lilly Steirer:

The City of Edgewater is now offering Cooking Classes at the Civic Center. The classes will focus on cooking real food from scratch, locally sourced whenever possible. The initial classes are for children ages 6-11 years old. These interactive hands-on classes will have children tasting, exploring and becoming curious about food. Each class will end with a mini feast where the students will enjoy their creations. With limited availability, plan to sign up in advance at www.playedgewater.com or at the Fitness Center Desk on the second floor of the Civic Center.

The first three classes are as follows:

Irish Tea Party
Saturday, March 16th
3-4:30pm
Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day by learning about the foods from Ireland. Learn how to bake Irish Soda Bread, Homemade Butter, Tea Sandwiches and a sweet treat. We will end the class with a Tea Party.

Spring Easter Treats
Saturday, April 13th
3-4:30pm
Learn how to make “Bunnies in a Blanket”, create your own Deviled Egg recipe, and a festive sweet treat.

Garden to Table
Saturday, June 1st
10-11:30am
Learn all about seeds! How to plant them, harvest and cook them up in the kitchen.

All classes are taught by Lilly Steirer of Edgewater who also teaches after school classes for Slow Food Denver. As she expands the cooking class programs, she is running two surveys to gather information about classes for children and adults. Please take a moment to fill out one or both surveys:

Garden to Kid’s Table Survey
For adults: Cooking Class Survey.
