Beer & Bites: Featuring The Simple Jar and Joyride Brewing Company

With increased restrictions on local businesses due to the pandemic, it’s time for our community to step up again and continue supporting our locally owned restaurants and breweries. Local nonprofit Edgewater Collective is organizing regular Beer & Bites events to feature great food and beers right here in Edgewater.

Order a delicious paired meal and support two Edgewater businesses! Because of increased restrictions due to the pandemic, this Beer & Bites will be a to-go lunch or dinner featuring The Simple Jar and Joyride Brewing Company.

Each order features:

  • Italian Chopped Salad from The Simple Jar
    • Iceberg lettuce, romaine hearts, marinated artichoke hearts, tomatoes, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, radicchio, hearts of palm, pepperoncini peppers, roasted red bell peppers, kalamata olives, red onions, and Italian dressing.
  • Penne Roma Noodle Bowl (Heat n’ Serve) from The Simple Jar
    • Gluten-free penne pasta, zucchini noodles, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, vegan parmesan, garlic, spinach, basil, creamy tomato arrabbiata sauce.
  • Ice Cutter Kölsch from Joyride Brewing Company
    • In the winter after Thomas Sloan flooded his farm, he would cut ice from the lake and sell it to local breweries. As most brewers in the day were of German descent, a Kölsch style beer could have been produced. Our Kölsch is a classic interpretation of the style, very smooth & drinkable like a lager with a light fruit flavor from ale fermentation. It has moderate levels of bitterness and noble hop flavor & a crisp, dry finish. Nothing pairs better with our lakeside view than our Kölsch.

According to The Simple Jar, each to-go jar holds 4 cups of food, which is the equivalent of 1 large entrée dish or 2 side dishes.

Orders can be picked up at The Simple Jar on Thursday, November 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
