Edgewater Business Spotlight: Maryjane’s Hideaway

After long last, the drinks are flowing and the kitchen is singing at 5280 W. 25th Avenue in Edgewater. Over the weekend, Maryjane’s Hideaway has opened in the former location of Providence and owner Nikkolus Garza is working hard to bring life back into this important watering hole on 25th Avenue. Garza also owns and operates Eat Here at 4004 W. 38th Avenue in Denver.

We asked Niko about what brought him to Edgewater and what he hopes to create at Maryjane’s Hideaway:

1. How did you get involved in this business?

I have always been in the service industry. My family started with hot dog carts at Currigan Hall/ Convention Center. We opened another cart at the Denver Skatepark for over 20 years. I opened my own cart. A food truck eventually. Then a small brick and mortar. Now, a full service restaurant/bar.

2. What drew you to move to Edgewater?

The space, neighborhood and people. Made me feel welcome and safe.

3. What menu items/products do you offer?

We will have traditional bar fare filled with secret items throughout and an All Day Breakfast menu. With the Airstream in back, we will also do ice cream with similar items you’d find on an Ice Cream Truck!

4. What makes your business unique?

I am from Denver. I care about the sale, not necessarily just the dollar. You could come and buy a can of soda and I’d be thankful and happy. We will do things a little differently, but aim to be service oriented. Maybe not a black tie and server pad. I will take care of you as a friend.
