Want to make your neighborhood safer?
The Edgewater Police Department’s Nextdoor Beat Cop Program was selected as one of the top 7 programs in the United States by the Nextdoor selection team for 2017. If you’re concerned about crime in your neighborhood there is no better free program available to us than Neighborhood Watch. Neighborhood Watch coordination is nothing more than getting to know your neighbors and passing along information that the police department provides to you about the calls for service in your specific neighborhood.
Please consider inviting your neighbors to participate in Nextdoor Edgewater and contacting our Neighborhood Watch Coordinator Lorenzo – volunteers@edgewaterpd.com to get more information on Neighborhood Watch and making your neighborhood safer. Working together we can make a difference in deterring crime – thank you!
Thank You Notes from Neighbors – Kudo’s – LE Events
Several kudo’s received for a Kidnapping Case on 8/8 – although we had a 22 year old young woman pulled into the apartment of a man in the 1800 block of Fenton St the woman’s quick thinking allowed her to escape her captor. EPD Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and forcibly entered the apartment. Thank you to Agents from the Lakewood PD for assisting with the interview of the suspect and to Lakeside PD for their assistance with the perimeter.
Thank you to our outstanding police volunteers Frank Kyper, Lorenzo Rendon, Dave Suter, Joel Newton, Pauline York, and Bill Tyler for the countless hours they are contributing to making our community and city a safer place to live, work and play! Frank continues to donate to our city countless hours as he maintains both vehicles and anything IT related. Lorenzo has done a fabulous job with Neighborhood Watch and looks as if he’ll bring along one of his best new volunteers shortly. Joel leads our very successful Police Chaplain program along with our Crime Free Housing effort. Pauline assists Lorenzo with Neighborhood Watch recruiting – thank you!. Bill has led multiple efforts of Cold Case Investigation and is currently assisting on a new IT effort to save our department hundreds – maybe thousands of hours with his support on our ongoing homicide case of Andrew Jenicek. We would not have the success or achievements we have attained in 2018 without each of you! Thank you! Chief Mackey
Neighbor’s notes and “Kudo’s” are placed in the lobby of the police station and placed in the respective officer’s personnel files – thanks for sharing!
