Year after year Jefferson wrestling coach Oscar Fonseca and his coaching staff send excellent wrestlers to the state tournament and come home with hardware. This year was no different. Sophomore Angelo Lozado continued his dominance with his second state championship in the 113 lb division. Senior Jimmy Ramirez III brought home 3rd place in the 126 lb division. Ramirez placed 2nd at state his freshman year and pushed through knee injuries his sophomore and junior year to finish well in his senior season.
After placing 3rd at state last year in the 145 lb division, senior Zander Condit completed in the championship match this year and brought home second. Senior Nick Gallegos, who won the state title last year, competed again for the championship in 152 lb and brought home second.
In the team scores, Valley and Eaton finished first with a rare tie and Jefferson finished third.
Congratulations to seniors Jimmy, Zander and Nick for their hard work and successful seasons at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School! And next year we’ll be cheering on Angelo for his third state title as a junior!
