From Lumberg Elementary School:
Dear Lumberg School Staff and Community,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Lumberg Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope this note finds you celebrating the success of this year and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a new school year back together in August within our newly renovated school building. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a world-class learning environment through the continuation of the Expeditionary Learning Program.
I arrive at Lumberg as a seasoned elementary school teacher, an instructional coach and an assistant principal. Through my years as a teacher, I taught grades 3rd-6th and loved seeing kids grow within my classroom walls yearly. Eventually, I moved into the role of an instructional coach where I developed a strong passion for instructional leadership and working alongside teachers. The last four years, I have been an assistant principal at Deane Elementary where my passions grew into school leadership and community connectedness.
In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a mother and wife. This fall I will have all three of my kids in one school as a kindergartner, 2nd grader and 5th grader and can’t wait to see how they each continue to grow into their own unique selves. My husband, and partner in parenthood, is dedicated to serving youth as well, and through his organization, provides kids with various sporting and hands on learning experiences across many age groups in many different communities. I look forward to introducing my family to the many wonderful people that call Lumberg “home” in the near future.
The 2021-2022 school year will mark my 15th year in education, all of which have been in Jefferson County. Although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my position as a school leader where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. The elementary principalship provides me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to young students learning and growing in the classroom both academically and socially emotionally. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community.
To our students, I cannot wait to meet you all! I hope that you are excited for this coming school year and that you are out this summer playing and reading tons of books with your family and friends. It is going to be a fun year learning together.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this next school year and beyond. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2021-2022 school year.
